Chile: 11.2% decrease in table grape exports

As reported by the Association of Chilean Fruit Exporters (ASOEX), exports of Chilean fruit and berries rose by 1.2% compared to the previous season and reached 2.6 million tons. On the other hand, some items saw a decline in the number of supplies to the external market, for example, grapes.

Fruits and berries exported by Chile in the 2020/21 season are destined for: the United States and Canada with 822 479 tons (+ 0.5%), Asia with 737 434 tons (+ 16.6%), Europe with 511 846 tons (-7.5%), Latin America with 427 936 tons (-1.7%) and the Middle East with 68,032 tons (-28.2%).

With a volume of 776 533 tons, the United States became the largest importer of fruits and berries from Chile. There are then 521 723 tons for China (Hong Kong), 206 351 tons for the Netherlands, 97 733 tons for Colombia, and 89 482 tons for the UK.

Exports of table grapes were 536448 tons (-11.2%),
cherries export was 352 474 tons (54.2%),
kiwi export was 142 778 tons (-1.7%),
plums export was   121 213 tons (-3.4 %),
pears export was 120 460 tons (+ 6.9%),
blueberries export was 117 640 tons (+ 7.7%),
tangerines export was 99 767 tons (-19.2%),

lemons export was 96 623 tons (+11 , 7%),
oranges export was 93 152 tons (-2.2%).

The main exporting regions of fruits and berries in Chile in the 2020/21 season:

O’Higgins – 29.9% of total exports,

Maule – 25.9%,

Santiago Metropolitan Region – 12.5%,

Valparaiso – 11.3%

Coquimbo – 9.3%.
