Cluster beans, also known as guar beans, are drought-resistant legume. There is a large amount of galactomannan gum in the endosperm of guar beans. Guar beans are small to medium in size. They are long, narrow, and tapered at the end.
Young smooth pods have a slightly slimy, soft texture and are green. After maturing, the pods take on a yellow-green hue, and clusters of seeds are visible beneath the smooth skin. Guar beans have a slightly bitter flavor profile, similar to that of broad beans.
