Grapefruits are oblate to round in shape. There are numerous prominent lenticels on the grapefruit peel, which has an orange-yellow color with a blush of pink.
There is a bitter, white layer beneath the peel with a spongy, dry consistency connected to the flesh. The flesh of a grapefruit is dark red in colour which is divided into 11-14 segments by a thin membrane.
The flesh of a grapefruit is soft, aqueous, and usually contains a few to many cream-colored seeds. Grapefruits have a sweet-tart, mildly acidic flavor and are tender and juicy.
Average diameter of a grapefruit is 4-6 inches ( 10 – 15 cm). The average weight of a grapefruit can be about 200 grams ( 7 ounces or 0.44 pounds).
