Kohlrabi derives its common name from the Germanic words “kohl” and “rabi“, which mean cabbage and turnip respectively.
It has a crunchy and sweet taste and is used both raw and cooked. Kohlrabi is commonly called a root, despite the fact that it is technically a stem.
Kohlrabi is a long, leafy vegetable with a round, bulbous stem that is 7-10 centimeters in diameter and is medium to large in size.
There are two layers of rosette-shaped, dark green leaves covering the pale, firm, and smooth skin of the swollen stem.
White, aqueous, dense, and crisp, the flesh has a faint, cabbage-like scent. The green kohlrabi is a juicy, crunchy vegetable that tastes mildly peppery and sweet, similar to broccoli, cabbage, and cucumber.
Kalkrabi is rich in vitamin C and a good source of both potassium and fiber. A high amount of phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, and iron can also be found in the stem.
