Cambodia: Plants to increase sales of mangoes to China

Cambodia sold more than 200 tons of fresh mangoes on the Chinese market in the first nine months of this year. In June last year, Cambodia signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements allowing exports of 500,000 tons of fresh Keo Romiet mangoes to China annually.

With the coming of harvest season, Hun Lak, CEO of Rich Farm Asia Co Ltd, expects a noticeable increase in the export of Keo Romiet mangoes to China. “But it all hinges on price negotiations, if the right rates are agreed, I believe Cambodia will export mangoes at a faster pace,”

Chinese customs on April 26 approved 37 mango plantations and five packing factories that could export fresh mangoes to the country.

During the first eight months of this year, the Kingdom exported 163,828 tons of fresh mangoes, an increase of 251.03 per cent from last year. Kuwait, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Thailand, and Thailand were some of the nations importing Cambodian mangoes.
