In remarks made to the media in New Delhi on Sunday, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said farmers protesting against central farm laws have been ready to campaign for 10 years, but they will not accept black legislations to be implemented.
BKU leadership said that the Center must repeal these laws.
According to Tikait, farmers are prepared to intensify their protest if they do not receive the demands they made, saying that “tractors may need to be ready for moving towards Delhi at any time.”
It came a day before the Samyukt Kisan Morcha called for a ”Bharat Bandh,” which marks the 10th month of the agitation against the three controversial farm laws administered by the Centre.
In his remarks, Tikait called on young farmers to leverage social media in supporting the ongoing agitation against the laws, saying there is a big responsibility on their shoulders to counter the propaganda sometimes used to defame the movement.
Only few months prior to the crucial assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, Muzaffarnagar mahapanchayat was organised.
In addition to the polls in Muzaffarnagar, Tikait said similar meetings will be held in Uttarakhand and Punjab early next year when the polls are just around the corner.
The Haryana BKU (Chaduni) chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni told reporters after the event that if the government does not listen to their demands, they will intensify their protest.
