The export of the first shipment of value-added and nutrient-rich products derived from Jackfruit, Passion fruit, and Nutmeg (Jaiphal) from Thrissur, Kerala, to Melbourne, Australia was facilitated by The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
The shelf life of these products is more than one year. In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s target to achieve $ 400 billion in merchandise exports by 2021-22, APEDA promotes exports of value-added products and health products.
Yesterday, Dr. M Angamuthu, Chairman of APEDA, and T V Subhash, Director of Agriculture, Kerala, Exporter and Importer, along with other representatives of APEDA, attended the virtual flag off ceremony.
Because Jackfruit is becoming more and more recognized for its health and nutritional qualities, and because entrepreneurs and farmers around the country are working hard to market the fruit, Jackfruit is expected to become one of the most sought-after fruits of the next few years. Jackfruit is exported to a number of countries, including Singapore, Nepal, Qatar, Germany, etc.
