Malaysia: Increased average income for pineapple growers is the aim of the Pineapple Industry Board

Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) Chairman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal said the plan is to increase the average income of pineapple growers in the country to between RM5,000 and RM8,000 per month under the 12th Malaysia Plan.

For five years (2021-2025) the Malaysian government has allocated RM137 million to MPIB through the ministry of agriculture and food industry (MAFI).

The MPIB is implementing seven development projects under the 12MP, which include strengthening the planting of high-value pineapple plantations, breeding pineapple seeds, technology transformation, and managing pineapple crops, as well as global pineapple industry markets.
