Passion Fruit

Botanically a berry, passion fruit is an exotic tropical and subtropical fruit and it grows on a vine.

Passion fruit is spherical in shape and ripe passion fruit color can depend on its variety : dark purple or yellow. Purple passion fruit are smaller than yellow passion fruit.

There are golden yellowish juice sacs containing crunchy seeds inside the relatively hard rind of a passion fruit which can be eaten or blended to extract juice. The taste of passion fruit is little acidic, sweet-sour and musky .

Average size of the passion fruit can range from 4 to 7.5 cm ( 1.5 – 3 inches). Average weight of passion fruit can be around 35 to 50 grams ( 0.07 – 0.11 pounds or 1.2 – 1.7 ounces).
