Poland: Raspberry price on a rise

The price of raspberries went up by one zloty per kilogram this week in Poland. It costs around €3/kg to buy frozen raspberries.

Approximately 120 thousand tons of raspberries will be harvested in Poland. The processing needs are also high because the world markets have seen a sharp decline in supply of berries this year. Serbia and Chile, Poland’s main competitors, harvested fewer raspberries than planned. Furthermore, many countries, including Poland, failed to have sufficient stocks of frozen raspberries and concentrate of raspberries.

The prices are immediately impacted by this situation. Concentrated raspberry juice sold for more than 20 EUR / kg on the European market. According to the Polish Institute for Agricultural Economics, frozen raspberries cost € 3 / kg.

The price of raspberries has increased by a zloty per kilogram in Poland as compared to last week. At present, raspberries delivered for processing cost approximately 4 euros / kilo for first grade and just under 3.88 euros / kilo for second grade. Prices have doubled since last year.
