Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee reports that exports of fruit and vegetables continue to decline, and Russia and Kazakhstan continue to be the top consumers of Uzbek vegetables and fruits in January to August 2021.
Uzbekistan continues to be the largest exporter of fruit and vegetables to Russia according to the information provided. The Russian Federation received 245.7 thousand tons of agricultural products worth 175.2 million dollars from January-August 2021, a share of 31.9%, Nuz.uz reports.
The second-largest consumer of agricultural products from Uzbekistan is Kazakhstan, which imported 437.5 tonnes of vegetables and fruit for $128.7 million in 7 months, making up 23.5% of the republic’s total exports of vegetables and fruits.
Over 55% of the republic’s agricultural exports are to these countries.
In addition to Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and China also import Uzbekistan’s fruits.
With a specific weight of 14.9%, 87.7 thousand tons of vitamin products were shipped from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan for 8 months, at a cost of $ 81.7 million.
The fourth-placed country, Pakistan, imported18.7 thousand tons of fresh vegetables and fruits for $38.1 million, which is 7% of national exports.
Chinese import accounted for 38.7 thousand tons, worth $ 32 million, equivalent to 5.8% of the market.
The export of fruits and vegetables continues to decline, according to official statistics. January-August, 948.6 thousand tons were exported, valued at $ 548.6 million (a 7.7% decline from the same period in 2020).
Vegetables amounting to 579 thousand tons were exported for $ 244.8 million, while fruits and berries amounting to 198.4 thousand tons for $ 195 million respectively.
Fruits and vegetables accounted for 5.9% of total exports in January-August 2021.
