Uzbekistan: 70% increase in price of Persimmon than last year

Wholesale prices for persimmons are rising sharply in Uzbekistan. A year ago, persimmons could be purchased for $ 0.18 per kg on average, while their average purchase price now reaches $ 0.30 per kg.

Persimmon prices are increasing, which provokes an increase in demand from wholesalers who are trying to store persimmons. In the pre-New Year period, this product is traditionally stored for sale when its price rises dramatically. Persimmon ripening season in Central Asia moving later this year has also contributed to the increase in prices this year.

It is noteworthy that the export volume of persimmons from Uzbekistan is growing rapidly and has already reached almost 100 thousand tons. Uzbekistan competes with suppliers from Azerbaijan, Iran, Israel, Georgia, Turkey, and China on the Russian persimmon market. Meanwhile, Russia is the world’s largest importer of persimmons. Kazakhs import large volumes of persimmons from Uzbekistan, which is in second place in the world for persimmon imports. Ukraine is on the fourth spot, after Germany, which occupies the third spot. Each year, there are also more and more persimmons from Uzbekistan sold in Ukraine. Persimmons from Uzbekistan were supplied to Ukraine in a record volume of 1.8 thousand tons in 2020.
